Below is a timeline of the products’ expected release.
Timeline of Golden Languages
1: International Scientific Report
Expected release: February 2026
This report will result in a booklet that will clearly explain to stakeholders, based on scientific evidence, the benefits of older adults participating in educational activities. It makes the project's objective evidence-based. The booklet, which will be published in all languages involved in the project, must not only be informative but must also encourage the target group to actually start participating in the activities.
2: Handbook for seniors
Expected release: June 2026
This handbook is a practical elaboration of the scientific report that forms the basis of the entire project. It contains a summary of the scientific basis, but the emphasis is on practical guidelines for the organization of education for seniors.
3: Train-the-trainer package of 12 modules
Expected release: February 2027
This package is aimed at self-study by teachers. This course consists of 12 modules covering topics such as learning, the benefits of learning for seniors, learning styles, preventing cognitive decline, and motivating seniors.
4: Get-it-done Handbook
Expected release: May 2027
A 30-page handbook for educational institutions is being developed. This is intended to support those institutions themselves with distribution and implementation. It covers effective communication and marketing for the senior market in Europe, with tips, tools, examples, inspiration, background information on the market and marketing, and best practices to communicate more effectively with the senior market.
5: Senior Toolkit
Expected release: August 2027
This kit will be a collection of 30 tools and activities for English as a Second Language courses for seniors. These tools, which are tailored to the learning styles and needs of seniors, also include elements that help them prevent cognitive decline. The tools and activities will have varied content and cover various linguistic elements (grammar, vocabulary, idioms, etc.). Additionally, they will cover all language skills (speaking, reading, writing, and listening). The content will consist of a variety of texts, audios, exercises, videos, images, etc.
6: DIY Golden Materials for teachers
Expected to release: November 2027
Teachers will always see opportunities to further develop matters that the original project did not yet provide for. This will be a user-friendly 15-page tool containing instructions, inspiration, and templates for language teachers and educational institutions. With this, they can adapt their language course materials or create new material from scratch for seniors, especially if they also want that material to include certain elements to prevent cognitive decline. These activities and tools can be developed for second language lessons in any language. The guide features an attractive layout and design, combines text, images, and templates, and is available on the project website.
7: Dissemination activities by schools
Expected to release: December 2027 (after project conclusion)
Using the Get It Done Handbook, the project participants ensure that the philosophy is actively disseminated after the project has ended.
